My friend had the same problem with SpywareGuard 2008. I found a program that fix’s it. It’s free and you can get to the website with the computer that’s infected. I think it’s a trial version but if it got rid of this virus and in the future you had to pay it’s well worth it. Download it, update it, and scan it.

I got infected with the spyware guard 2008, and I looked up every single way to get rid of it i tried to download all the anti spy wares but the virus had blocked everything to were i couldnt open up any web pages that would help me and i could not open any anti spy ware. I had our computer guy come out and look at it. After 2 days of trying to get it out he said that it wouldnt go away and now they are going to crash the computer an re build it…

Freddy, my problems exactly.
Google Chrome, however, isnt programmed into the virus’ block-list, so if you can download it, youll be able to at least *look* at help sites. downloading anti-qiral software, however, is out of the question.

Im going to GeekSquad tonight, but my hopes arent too high.

I also had this,if you can open in safe mode with networking and download the file to the desktop,close all open windows, then open the spyware file,internet explorer will open using the task managerbut to no good as you say it redirects you,and all system restore points have gone ,try this and good luck

i am also having troubles with this spyware. I can’t run in safe mode, either. It’s completely corrupted my OS, and only lets me long on on seldom occasions. to get rid of the false windows security center pop-up, call up your task manager, and delete the winscenter.exe process.

most sites i have visited, it has downloadable files,but the spyware prevents me from opening them.

Your reply is moral support. I have exactly the same issue. I cannot get rid of Spyware Guard 2008, My Explorer home page gets redirected to useless sites, I am prevented from executing any removal tool, and my SystemRestore has too been deleted.

Did you find a solution? Please share!

While the information here seems fairly accurate, it is lacking a crucial fact; SpywareGuard 2008 also jacks Internet Explorer and causes redirects away from any page that might help you remove it. Every page listed in a Google Search of “Spywareguard 2008″ or any page after… was redirected to unuseful pages like Yahoo! Answers (with no question) or Yahoo! Jobs… All links were unuseful…

Also, I was unable to download, install, or update any legit anti-spyware software from the internet or run locally with this infection. Safe Mode instalation was near impossible (and I am a power user level with 15 years analyst experience), as many services were unable to run (Plug & Play, Windows Installer, etc.)

The malware also may have also deleted my System Restore Points making system restore not an option for me (but I may have done this myself, I’m not sure)
